Limoncello Cocktail
This quick, easy, refreshing two-ingredient spritzer is the best version in order to have the most lemon flavor for your cocktail.
On a hot summer day, this drink is a perfect pick me up in the afternoon, but not too boozy to knock you out afterwards. As there are only two ingredients, it’s easy to make right.
First: The Limoncello
To start off, the best limoncello I’ve found (and, after traveling to Italy several times, taste testing the best ones on offer at home, and even making our own, I’ve had quite the experience with this particular spirit) is Villa Massa Lemon Liqueur. This can be found at any liquor store like Bevmo or Total Wine and More. A 750 ml bottle of this retails for about $30, and has the smoothest, most natural lemon flavor, while other limoncellos tend to have a medicinal aftertaste that evoke more lemonhead than the Amalfi coast. A fair substitute (as shown in the video) is Il Tramonto Limoncello Liqueur, which is $17 for 750 ml. It’s less smooth, but doesn’t have a harsh bite to it at least.
Last: The Lemon Beer
Now, onto the beer: this 3% Radler (which is already half lemonade) from the brand Bitburger has a lovely refreshing lemonade flavor without being too sour or fake tasting. It’s German, so I’ve really only found this at Aldi, and sometimes Target. It is on the sweeter side, so it may be balanced out by lemon La Croix or sparkling water.
I love this super lemony cocktail, and it’s super easy to make. I prefer it over a hard lemonade, because it has a stronger lemon flavor with a more complex taste.
To be fancy, top it off with some lemon thyme or mint, and call it a day! Kick you feet up and relax in the sunshine- you’ve earned it!
