Neocities on WordPress? It’s more likely than you think

Don’t freak out that this post looks different from all the others! That’s okay, that’s normal.

This is my experimentation with more Neocities-esque website design.

Some blogs (?) online look so cute, and finding them through webrings and clicking through them is a ton of fun, unexpectedly.

For example, I’m a big fan of StarGirlLee’s YouTube channel and her website, linked here.

Some examples of neocities below, linked in order:

I just love how cute/cool these designs are!

This is me playing with website design, even though I’m self-hosted on WordPress, which can make things tricky. It’s a shame I don’t code, as the HTML look of these websites is so cute. I love the creativity and blast-from-the-past look these have. It just seems more… authentic? In a way.

I like to have a good balance on my website between professionalism (or semi-professionalism) with travel and recipes, then more gaming/journal aspects where I can be more loosey-goosey with it all.

So, I think more blogs, whether on WordPress or not, should lean into a more authentic, fun, creative vibe. Everyone can do their own thing and design their blog how they want, like in the good ole’ days. My blog is a major work-in-progress, so we’ll see where it takes me. This is my challenge to you, that whether you’re hosted on WordPress, Neocities, SpaceHey, Mastodon, YouTube, Tumblr, whatever, that you make it unique and authentically yours!

My next plan is to make a shrine page for some of my interests, not unlike my reviews page.

Explore it all, because it’s always updating!

Thanks for reading! I hope you have a wonderful day <3
